Dublin

Up and at ‘em to finish packing, we awaited the arrival of our pre-arranged Uber ride to Heathrow at 09:00h.  Quick and easy trip got us there in plenty of time to find the Aer Lingus check in where we discovered that even without a language barrier, confusion and misdirection reign.  With all our bags checked (even what we thought to be carry on), we made our way to security, which inevitably was ever so slightly different in protocol.  Made it through unscathed but could not locate Brother Matt as our lines had become separated and we thought he must have been ahead.  Turned out his queue was glacial and he was behind.  Off to the airport pub for one last full English b’fast and a pint before boarding the Aer Lingus airbus for the relatively short flight over the Irish Sea.  Ran into fellow privateer Phil Becks at the carousel where all luggage showed up reasonably quickly, we were off to find a cab to the Morrison.  Lost Phil on the way, and after a failed attempt to get stuffed into a smallish cab, we did manage to hail a suitable ride into town.  Checked in to the Morrison smoothly with our room available, we made the turnaround quickly and were off to the Guinness Storehouse for a tour of the famous and ancient brewery (since 1759!).  Quite the tale, including learning the founder sired Twenty One (21!) children of which only 10 survived childhood - times were tough!  What a woman!  Fascinating story of the global impact of this iconic brand.  We thoroughly enjoyed our pint (and extra one) overlooking the city from the Gravity bar.  Back to to hotel and we then crossed the Ha’penney bridge to Merchants Arch for some pies and chowder to go with yet more beer (and wine?).  Fed up once more we then aspired to find the Temple Bar in the middle of the Temple Bar.  This famous strip of pubs, bars and restaurants running along the southern quay of the Liffey river estuary.  Located the lively and crowded pub after a slight misdirect and met up with a pack of Privateers enjoying and honest to goodness Irish pub.  Nothing less than a pint of Guinness and shot of Tullamore Dew to cap off the first day and evening to commence our adventure with the High Impact Tour.  K&I left Brother Matt with the lingering privateers and retired to the very comfortable Morrison Hotel.
