Opryland

Started out the day with the hotel breakfast which turned out to be better than average.  This was followed by a lengthy drive out to the Opry Mills mall to have a look for some manly foot ware for Matthew.  We had been told by Jeff at the boot store on Broadway that the mall had a better selection in the 3 for 1 offer.  That turned out to be not true, but we were out there so we strolled over to have a look at the Grand Ole Opry, which was uninspiring.  Alice Cooper of all people was the headliner for the evening show.  We headed back to the downtown area via Uber with a driver that was a bit directionally challenged so we got to see more interstate than might have been necessary.  Walked along 1st Avenue and found more shopping, up through Printers Alley and ultimately stopped for lunch at the Bobby. Then back over to Broadway where Jeff the boot doctor got Matthew, Karen and I into some nice new cowboy boots.  Myles was unable to find anything he liked so he was odd man out.  Then on to the Downtown Sports Club for a rooftop libation and then we made our way back to the hotel for a nap.  Dinner was over in the Gulch for Peg Leg Porker BBQ, highly recommended but sadly not the best pit I’ve ever been to.  Then into the heart of the Gulch area where we went up to the very trendy rooftop at the Thompson for a cocktail.  Very interesting clientele including the Russian hookers that were working the room.  Made on last stop at a wine bar just before closing and then Karen and I retired while the boys went in search of more excitement.
