Karen's 60th

The birthday girl wanted to be in Maui, and so it is.  A light b'fast was followed by heading out to Maui Nui for golf.  Or arrival for our 9:56 tee time at 9:50 left me unprepared for the first tee, but off we went. There was something amiss with the course while we waited for a long time for the twosome in front of us on the second tee, the delay did not abate throughout the round.  That made for a challenging front nine while we tried to figure out who was causing the slow play. In spite of the very odd form exhibited by the novice player in front, they managed to keep up to the group ahead of them.  The course had a bit of an odd lay out, but completely acceptable for the style of play we have.  Myles was somewhat rusty, Matthew a bit wild, Karen just glad to be out there and myself - well that goes without comment.  We were unprepared for the complete absence of F&B at the course, so not surprisingly - luhi, pōloli and make wai after the 4.5 hour round (which was surprisingly short considering the amount of time we spent waiting).  In the end, we chose to get a player card with the intent to play some more at this very close by and satisfactory golf course.  Back at the condo, we had a sandwich on the lanai and a siesta.  Once prep'd for dinner, I hailed an Uber and asked driver Cecilia (via "pick up notes") if she would take all four. She replied yes.  As we headed out to meet her, it occurred to me that I had forgotten the Lai for Karen, so I popped back to the condo to grab it.  By the time I got to the ground, Myles and Karen had departed with Cecilia who had refused to take all four once she arrived.  Matthew had requested another Uber, who accepted the fare from Kahului, so we had to wait about 30 minutes.  I was not amused. Nonetheless, we caught up to the rest of the party for a cocktail at the Fairmount.  I thought the result was OK, but it was not up to snuff for Myles, reason unarticulated.  We strolled from the Fairmount to the Four Seasons Ferraro restaurant for our 8:30 reservation.  We enjoyed a lovely meal oceanside and a bit of wine where the staff acknowledged Karen's b'day.  Myles was displeased after being attacked by a giant beetle, which left him in a state of abject terror.  After dessert, our Uber driver (Michael) got us back home in a fraction of the time and price required to get there.
