Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe

I watched the rain coming down as the Splendor was cruising into our next port of call. No sooner had we finished our b’fast and started getting ready for the morning excursion than the public announcement came through that all programs were cancelled due to flooding and bad weather.  The day was spent aboard exploring the ship and by the late afternoon, clouds had lifted permitting some sun to shine through onto our veranda.

K&I hurried up to the pool deck to see the sun set as we pulled out of the harbour. Next up, Observation Lounge for a BDD with B&R.  This spacious and beautifully appointed cocktail bar is very impressive.  Bob was not feeling 100%, and we discovered that the Sette Mari restaurant had a one hour wait list so we took the decision to return to the Compass Rose for dinner.  Bob retired as soon as he’d finished and we arranged for a ginger tea to be taken to him in his stateroom.  The rest of the touring party returned to the Observation lounge for a nightcap while being entertained by a pianist.  Rather quiet day in Pointe-a-Pitre.
