After the wholly unsavoury start to yesterday in the wee hours, the tourists rallied and managed to keep a light b’fast down. Got organized for a full day of entertainment and set off in an Uber to Pinocho’s bar to meet our friends Deb & Ron and a new friend Walter. First beers went down OK and we had a plan to hop on the local bus for the ride up the hill to La Huerta BBQ for some live music by Los Geckos. Sadly (or happily, depending on your sense of adventure), the bus service was not available due to some roadwork on the cobblestones. So we grabbed a couple of taxis for the short climb. La Huerta is a really great venue for live music, and we enjoyed the afternoon alongside the river where youngsters were jumping into a deep pool from the treetops. Food was great too with some pulled pork tacos and nachos hitting the spot. Myles, Matthew and Alex tired of the elderly crowd dancing to the oldies and took their leave to head down to the Malecon for a bit before reconvening at the Twisted Palm for a BDD. Then we were off to Cafe des Artistes for a truly spectacular dinner birthday celebration. The labyrinthine venue was quite interesting and we enjoyed some fabulous service and outstanding plates. A special evening to be sure. After that, we grabbed a taxi back to the Villa and called the night.
