Received an early WhatsApp text message indicating that the sea conditions were looking poor for navigation, and a subsequent message indicating the boat trip was cancelled. We took the option to reschedule for Venerdi and proceeded to contemplate what to do for the day as we’ve pretty much explored the whole of Sorrento. Nevertheless, we struck out on the walk around the perimeter as laid out on the tourist map provided by B&B Caporivo. Discovered not much new on that adventure but decided to seek out a different viewpoint overlooking Golfo di Napoli from further along into new town. After that, we stumbled into Giardino dei Limoni Parrucchiano
which provided an interesting path through the grove of lemon trees with explanations covering the lemon trade throughout history - Fatti una Limonatta!. Confirming that we have visited this famous tourist destination during shoulder season, many of the multitude of hotels and ristoranti are undergoing major face lifts or significant renovations. Lots of luxurious looking places are closed completely. We did stumble into a fancy cocktail lounge at Imperial Hotel Tramontano for a Caipirinha and a Hugo Spritz (c/w a splash of Italicus - Myles' suggestion), great patio at the top of the cliff but too cold to sit outside. Next up, trying to locate Il Leone Rosso for a forno oven pizza. This place turned out to be a bit disappointing in terms of food and service. Oh well, guess we’ve been lucky so far as the vast majority of eating establishments (that were open) have been eccellente. With nothing further to see, we made our way back along Corso Italia to the B&B and after a quick stop at our regular locale for a night cap called it a day, but not before some miscommunication trying to get smaller bills in exchange. The whole cash thing has been a bit of a cluster! Will have to revise our strategy vis-à-vis foreign exchange.
