Well rested we were up and packed to depart with plenty of time for one last stop at Le Serine for a piccola colazione. Roberto was early in his very shiny Mercedes Benz sedan (no side swipes yet?) for the comfortable ride over to Napoli Centrale where we awaited the platform to be assigned. Il treno Frecciarossa was exactly on time and swiftly delivered us to Roma Termini. We had been notified that a plumbing issue had lead (get it?) to a change in hotel moving us from Relais Trevi 95 to CC Palace. I noticed that this new venue was closer to Termini so perhaps we could walk? It was only 850 meters, but dragging luggage along cobblestones resulted in some irritability. You’d think after 30 years I’d have figured this out. Reminded me of the time we walked from Gare du Nord to L’hotel Britanique in Paris! We made it in short order nevertheless and got checked in with the room ready for us early. Found a nearby forno oven for our umpteenth pizza at Ristorante Strega.
Got some steps in exploring the neighbourhood in close proximity to all the attractions in Rome. Back at the hotel for our welcome cocktail at the rooftop bar where we learned that due to winter being over (first day of spring), the hotel management would not be refilling the propane tank for the deck heater. Seems short sighted at today’s temperature? After some checking around, decided to try La Fata Ingnorante rooftop ristorante and enjoyed a bowl of pasta before retiring to la stanza for an ETB.
