Missed a couple of days. Rome was a whirlwind. Covered a lot of territory in a couple of days. Since last message, we did have a siesta. Took the Metro and went to see the Fontana di Trevi. Then went out for dinner, Myles & Matthew had a lively debate about some scientific issue, I couldn't have been more proud. Walked back by the Scala di Spagna (lots of people hanging out) and Piazza del Popolo which was deserted. Saw two Vespa accidents while in Rome, the word kamikaze comes to mind. Second day in Rome, took the Metro to the Colloseo. A guy got his pocket picked at one station, don't stand near the door. Toured Colloseo and then the Roman ruins. Walked back via Capitole, Pantheon, Piazza Navona. Castel St Angelo and then St Peters. Had a nice meal near the Vatican and then went to the piazza to take some night photo's of the Basilica.
Another long day. Back to the convent for a good nights sleep. Checked out early and took the metro to Il Stazione Termini. Checked our luggage and went in search of a cappicino and croissant. Wandered around the Baths of Diocletian and Piazza Republica. I had to find a store to buy a bottle of water and wound up almost missing our train. Train was great, very relaxing way to travel. Arrived in Florence on time.
I've run out of time here, so next post will update on a stressful travel day to Firenze.
