RWC2015 Leicester

A not so early start saw part of the crew off to Hyde Park for a run.  Others just had breakfast.  Once ready, the boys headed of to St. Pancras to catch the train back up to Leicester.  Arrived just in time to hop on a direct fast train.  The comment was made that we had had some good luck on the trains and it couldn't last.  How prophetic.  Only an hour got us there.  We walked towards city center, over to New Walk and found the Revolution pub without delay.  Many Canadian fans already present, including the Kazakoffs.  Also caught up with the Godfreys there. Kangaroo Kourt resulted in the Mountie being returned to the eldest, convicted by the jury of multiple mini infringements. The Judge is dead, long live the Judge. Nice lunch with a few pints before walking over to Welford Road to see if the fan store was open.  It was and perhaps somewhat foolishly, Miles purchased a rugby ball.  Well, you can't just carry a rugby ball around Leicester without tossing it around a bit - in traffic.  Got to the stadium in plenty of time to get into our seats, but not before
Miles found a chip shop - pretty good fish and chips in a paper wrap - as if we needed that.  After a bit, Matt had to relieve himself, so I relieved him of his phone, which he had absent mindedly left on the floor.  Heinous. The game was entertaining with a great deal of enterprise shown by the Canucks.  Sadly once more, they found a way to lose at the death, 17-15.  An impromptu Kourt saw the Mountie turned over to Matt, after we let him rush back into the stands searching for his phone.  The walk back saw some more tossing around of the ball, including a wayward kick into someones yard.  Over the fence went Miles to retrieve it.  Nothing less than a trip to the Mumbai Inn for some Vindaloo would do.  This proved to be an expensive mistake, and not just because of the Vindaloo.  After eating (and drinking) we were off to the train station at about a quarter past 10 only to discover the last train to London had departed at quarter to.  Oops.  Next train at 04:40 h.  At the prodding of our new found friend from London (Mark), we elected to grab a cab and split it five ways.  It would be "only" about 200#.  Nevertheless, we were able to find a willing cabbie and for cash in advance, we were off.  Have to say, there were some nervous moments in the dark countryside, a couple of wrong turns but we eventually got on the M1 and were speeding to London.  Arrived at Paddington at around 02:00 h, glad that the ordeal was over.  Bid adieu to Mark and walked down to the flat.

Meanwhile, back in London, the Ladies spent the day shopping at Harrods, visiting museums (V&A) sipping tea at a sidewalk cafe and then off to the Theater, for the production of Memphis.  Cleansing ale at a pub before returning to the flat.
