We were up very early, before anything was open. Got packed up and luggage up to the reception to find the lights out and just getting ready for breakfast service. Waited not too long and had a fantastic breakfast of Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine. Checked out and on the road by 07:15. First stop was Lake Naivasha where we had arranged a short boat ride to see hippos and a huge variety of birds. The Pelicans were all over the place.
Here again, the lake level has been very high for a couple of years but now receding. In fact, Crescent Island is completely submerged. Karen was completely terrified on the boat, and Matthew will have indelible scars on his leg where she was gripping him.
Back to the jeep and commenced a very long drive with only a couple of stops to check the tires. Stopped to re-fuel at the last town enroute, which was an interesting experience in itself. After we left the tar mac, drove along a bumpy dirt road which lead to a weld failure where the running board attaches to the undercarriage. As Peter said, this was all part of the package. We borrowed a length of rope from a passing motorist to tie on the running board and limp into a very small community where believe it or not, there was a welding shop. 
This was a sight to behold, but in due course, the repair was complete and we were on our way.
Our next stop was for a very late lunch at Keekorok Lodge which we rushed through. Next on to the Mara Triangle game conservancy. From the gate we began a game drive where we saw thousands of Wildebeest, Giraffe, Wart Hogs, and ultimately located a pride of Lions with two mature brothers amongst five females. We were able to get up close.
Also saw a Cheetah and a Leopard before finding a couple of Hyenas. Will hunt for Elephants and Hippos tomorrow, and looking forward to our cultural visit to a Maasai village.
