Sesimbra

Our adventure began with us staring at each other, sure that everything was in readiness.  First flight went off without a hitch and arrived in TO on time, only to discover that our connection was delayed, first for 3 hours, but ultimately 5 and a half.  Toronto's international terminal isn't someplace I'd choose to spend a bunch of time.  This in spite of their extraordinary effort to make it seem modern and fantastic, complete with about a thousand iPad's for customers to use for whatever.  Would be great except for that the WiFi in TO was as brutal as it gets.  Also sad to see so many smashed iPads in one place.  So the delay was trouble #1.  We eventually arrive in Lisbon, the airport is wide open and we found immigration to be as simple and seamless as anywhere.  However, upon approaching the customs agent, it dawned on me that I had neglected to bring our Visas for Turkey.  Oops.  This really stressed me out, not because it was an unrecoverable splivage, but more because I couldn't believe I had dropped the ball so badly.  Anyway, we'll be able to get the doc's emailed to us thanks to having a house sitter (my nephew Liam) to bail me out.  Trouble #2.  Our fears were allayed when we collected our bags at the carousel and headed out.  I had had some angst after reading the rental car contract, but it turned out to be not a problem, in spite of the fact that our pre-filing of driver detail via fax had gone into the ether (Trouble #3).  Now none these troubles are profound.  We're just hoping that the "trouble in threes" rules apply and we are over it.  Wishful thinking perhaps.  Drive to Sesimbra was trouble free, only received the bird once.  Sesimbra is a fantastic coastal fishing village.  Hotel is perfect, right on the waterfront across a one lane cobblestone road from the beach.  Rooftop pool and hot tub sure to be a highlight.  We wandered along the waterfront and Myles had identified Ribamar as a good place to eat and it was true to form.  We shared a delicious Mixed Fish Grill, which everyone heartily partook in.  Great start to our most excellent adventure.
