Setubal

We went for pizza last night overlooking the waterfront, had decided that another plate of fish wasn't that appetizing.  Pizza was good and enjoyed a nice port afterwards.  Turned out after a couple of tries, their card reader wouldn't work with my card, so paid cash.  Of course this leaves one cold worrying if my card was compromised.  Hope not.

This morning, off to Setubal after a late breakfast.  Followed the coastal winding road past a really interesting convent on the side of the cliffs above the beaches (Parque Natural da Arrabida).  Continued on toward Setubal and took the fork back along the waterfront road.  Very interesting system along very narrow (single lane in parts) road with many cars parked along the sides making it even more nerve wracking.  Couldn't find our way into the convent but made a big loop and around back into Setubal.  Found the Tourismo office and sat down for what seemed like an hour with a very helpful man who wanted us to know everything he knew about Setubal.  He did tell us that the area speciality was Choco Frite (fried cuttlefish) and indeed we had noticed every sandwhich board had it listed.  Finally broke free of him and found a Banco then wandered along in search of a place for lunch.  Found Novo10, very busy at 3:00 pm which is Myles' bellweather.  Service was great, set us up with bread and Choco Frites right away.  We ordered a Branco Sangria and Carne de Porco a Alentejana (translation: Pork Meat the Alentajana Way).  I asked the waiter what this meant and he just said we'd like it.  He was right.  Served family style in a pot, a sort of Clam and Pork stew. After that, wandered around the Setubal Centro and everyone decided that a direct route back to Sesimbra was best and now I'm at the rooftop pool making this entry (after a very refreshing dip in the cold Atlantic.)
