Another Ice Day

The morning brought more sub-freezing temperatures, sadly appears to be warmer at home after a very cold couple of days there.  K is displeased to put it mildly.  After a slow start and light b’fast, we wandered over to the New Braunfels Cafe for a Chai Tea Latte.  We could see the town square with the iced over fountain from the cafe and inspected it more closely after tea.  Decided to explore downtown NB on foot, but only got as far as the Phoenix Saloon where the sandwich board advertised Tony Taylor and Geoffrey Hill playing there after noon.  Stopped in for a drink and some fried pickles where we met Mark and Theresa, local retirees.  Actually, it seemed like the whole town was there as by 3, the place was quite full and everyone seemed to know everyone else - Covid Friday afternoon I suppose.  The winter blast had slowed everyone down a bit, but hopefully the worst of it is over.  Forecast is for sub-freezing over night but progressively warming up each day over the next week.  Let’s hope so because while our condo is quite pleasant, we didn’t plan on staying inside for days.
