The Bandit

Monday saw us better off after an AFD returning from CS.  Relaxing start ahead of a 10:30 tee time at the Bandit.  The golf course is part of a very nice residential community some 10 miles east of New Braunfels.  The homes are very nice and the golf course meanders along the Long Creek and is a step up from Landa Park.  Apparently there is a water skiing facility within the complex but all that was visible from the course was some boat storage.  The pace of play was slow for a Monday, but not too bad.  Facilities are good but dated and tired.  While the course isn’t too difficult (greens were deceptively fast), I still managed to lose some equipment.  Public courses in the area are not like the golfing meccas of Arizona and Southern California - while the conditions are OK, I’m sure they are much better in the later spring and fall.  I would guess that it would be very hot trying to play in the summer here without much in the way of shade.  After golfing, we stopped at the HEB to restock for the arrival of the kids and that was essentially our day.  Golf really does consume an entire day to play.  There was time for a hot tub and a brief swim in the Comal River.  As advertised, the crystal clear spring water was comfortably warm for swimming, the current is just enough to make swimming upstream like being on a treadmill, at least for me.  Spent the evening watching the humorous Modern Family re-runs themed for Valentines Day.
