Sunday parades

I called my Mom in the morning to let her know we were in New Orleans and find out the names of the hospitals where she worked (Baptist and Hotel Dieu - House of God).  I also mentioned that our hotel was on some street I couldn’t pronounce (Tchoupitoulis), and she articulated it immediately.  Her long term memory is still very good!  The morning was very quiet and the drinking didn’t commence until noon at Le Meridien bar.  Our “brunch” reservation at 1 o’clock was at the nearby Windsor Court where nothing less than a bottomless Bloody Mary or bottomless Mimosa would do.  A very fine brunch it was!  Afterwards, we secured a spot on the parade route right out front and enjoyed the Krewe of Thoth in all its glory collecting a massive supply of beads and trinkets.  K was heavily laden with stuff around her neck.  After the parade, a quick drink in the Windsor Court bar and back to the hotel to unload.  We met Tim’s NO RFC teammate JR at his event in a blind alley while the Krewe of Bacchus passed by.  Then up to a rooftop patio at the Ace Hotel for more on a pleasant evening.  We made our way to the Loews Hotel for a late evening feed before retiring to our room while the parade floats reached their end point adjacent to Le Meridien (we watched from our windows which aligned along the route).
