Hill Country Wine
Sunday morning saw a lazy start with a plan unfolding to meet Tim and Dru in Blanco at 1:00 o’clock. But first, a fairly uncoordinated effort to prepare bacon and eggs for b’fast at the condo. Shortly thereafter, we were off for the 45 minute drive to Blanco, Tx. Once there, we grabbed a long neck at the Old 300 BBQ to await their arrival. Piled into Tim’s SUV and drove up the road to the Narrow Path winery where we met up with Hugh and Shanon and their kids and enjoyed the Tempranillo and Tannat made there while overlooking the vines and valleys. Onward to a really lovely vineyard and winery at Adega Vinho where they make Portugese style wine in very small lots from estate grown grapes. Next stop was impressive Altstadt Brewery for a cleansing ale and a pretzel. We popped into the Pedernales Winery only to find them no longer opening wine after 4:00 pm (just missed it) but we did take a moment to admire the vista from this beautiful spot. Last stop, the Albert, Tx (population 3) dance hall, what a place. A couple spins around the dance floor and a chili dog made it an afternoon to remember. Back to Blanco to recover our car and drove into New Braunfels for an appetizer at McAdoos before retiring to the condo.
